Umpiring

Umpiring at SCNA

Umpires are a vital part of our competition and our community and we can’t run without them!

Umpires help keep the game safe, fair and enjoyable for everyone and, importantly, they help players development on court. As an umpire you develop strong personal skills such as communication, leadership and resilience not to mention it’s a great pathway into the world of professional sport! All our umpires are badged.

If you are a badged umpire and interested in joining our team at SCNA please complete the form below. We also offer B badge training on a Wednesday evening.

If you are looking to train as an umpire at SCNA, please read on…

At SCNA, we offer an umpire training program as part of the Netball Australia Umpire Pathway. New umpires must be aged 14 years and above and are developed and mentored with the ultimate aim of obtaining their National Badges such as C Badge. The first step to becoming an umpire is to complete the Foundation Umpire Course and then the Rules of Netball Theory Exam on the Netball Victoria’s website. Once you have completed these you are ready to begin umpire training. SCNA has an intake of umpire trainees every season. If you are interested in this program, please contact us at hello@stonningtonnetball.com.au

Beginner umpires can be identified at SCNA by their blue vests “I’m Just New So I’m in Blue” and will officiate matches under the supervision of an experienced and badged umpire.

SCNA also offers B Badge umpire training on Wednesday evenings. If you are interested in this program, please contact us at hello@stonningtonnetball.com.au
